Today, the theatre club and choir students had a chance to attend a puppetry 101 workshop with Mel Douglas, the professional puppeteer of MellyPop Productions. They talked about being engaged with their bodies and voices while telling stories. Students learned that the art of puppetry is over 4,000 years old! Everyone worked on moving their hands with their mouth while puppeteering, and some kids even got to tell stories of their own! With Mel’s help, they performed a “Punch and Judy” scene, as well as telling the story of the 3 little pigs!

Our fifth grade students in Mrs. Franklin’s class put their skills to the test with an exciting STEM challenge! Students carefully read directions, created a hypothesis, and worked together to design and build towers that could hold a cup of water for a set amount of time. With limited materials, students demonstrated incredible collaboration, teamwork, problem-solving, and thoughtful planning throughout the activity. With Mrs. Franklin, the students discussed failure was part of the process. It was amazing to see their creativity and perseverance in action as they tested and improved their designs. Great job, Tigers! 💧

Our Little Lending Library! New books have been added by staff and visitors for our students. Feel free to stop by, exchange a book, and enjoy something new to read over break. Even though we are out for Spring Break, the library is always open. Stop by, take a book, or leave one to share. Happy reading, Tigers! 🐅
